Intro Title: How to Make Italian Wine and Peach Sorbet

Ripe summer peaches and red wine are already a natural pairing. Churn them together, and that familiar Italian combination becomes a cold, fruit-forward sorbet perfectly made for the hottest days of the year.

At Mama Florence Cooking School, our Italian Wine and Peach Sorbet brings together ripe peaches, Chianti red wine, sugar, and a few mint leaves, to create the perfect balance of refreshing and delicious.

The method is simple: warm the wine with sugar and mint, pour it over the peaches, blend until smooth, chill completely, and churn.

What Is Italian Wine and Peach Sorbet?

talian Wine and Peach Sorbet is a dairy-free fruit sorbet made with ripe peaches, Chianti red wine, sugar, and mint. It takes the Italian summer pairing of peaches and wine and turns it into something colder and smoother, while keeping the fruit at the center.

How to Make Wine and Peach Sorbet

Wine and Peach Sorbet Ingredients:

• Ripe peaches (to preference), peeled and cut into pieces • 220 g sugar • A few mint leaves • About 250 g Chianti red wine

Mama's Secret: Start with the peaches. Because the recipe is so simple, the fruit does most of the work. Choose peaches that are ripe, fragrant, juicy, and full of summer flavor.

1. Prepare the Peaches

  • Peel the peaches and cut them into pieces.
  • Put the cut peaches aside.

2. Make the Wine Syrup

  • In a pan, add 220 g sugar, a few mint leaves, and about 250 g of Italian Chianti red wine.
  • Warm everything together until the sugar has dissolved.

3. Blend

  • Pour the warm wine syrup over the cut peaches.
  • Blend until completely smooth.

4. Chill

  • Let the peach and wine mixture cool completely.

How to Churn Wine and Peach Sorbet

  1. Once the mixture is completely cold, pour it into the ice cream machine.
  2. Churn until the mixture becomes smooth, icy, and scoopable.

How to Serve Wine and Peach Sorbet

       1. Serve the sorbet cold, while the peach, Chianti, and mint flavors are still bright.

The Perfect Bite

The first taste is cold and immediately peachy: ripe, juicy, almost floral fruit, followed by the softer warmth of red wine and the freshness of mint. The texture stays smooth and icy without losing the lushness of the peaches. It is a small spoonful of Italian summer.
