Join us on a journey through the world of Italian wine at MaMa Florence Cooking School! Our Italian Wine Tasting Journey is the perfect opportunity to learn about and taste a wide range of delicious Italian wines.

Led by our friendly and knowledgeable English-speaking sommelier, this class is designed to provide a crash-course in Italian wine tasting. You'll learn about the different wine-producing regions of Italy, the different grape varietals used to make wine, and the techniques used to produce different styles of wine.

But the real highlight of this class is the chance to taste a selection of carefully chosen Tuscan and Italian wines. You'll have the opportunity to learn about the flavors and characteristics of different wines, and to discover your own personal preferences.

Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or a beginner looking to learn more about this fascinating subject, our Italian Wine Tasting Journey is the perfect way to explore the world of Italian wine.

Class description

Tucked beneath the stunning open-space kitchen at MaMa Florence is our charming and cozy wine cellar. It has comfortable seats, leather couches and is full of warm wooden tones and lots of lots of bottles of amazing Italian wine. Meet your English-speaking sommelier who will welcome you with some bubbly before getting into your Italian wine journey. The adventure starts in the Northern lands of Piedmont and Veneto, continues in the magical Tuscan hills, across the sunny Amalfi Coast and it ends on the volcanic slopes of Mt. Etna in Sicily. During your journey, you will get an overview of the most important Italian wine regions, touch on some of the more than 400 Italian wine varietals and learn how to narrow down your choice from the 20,000 labels of Italian wine. You will finally understand what the DOC and DOCG labels are all about and why you keep hearing about Super Tuscans. What was once overwhelming, becomes fun and exciting as you learn to swirl, look for legs and use your nose to develop your wine tasting technique. You will have a guided tasting of two wonderful white and two exceptional red wines accompanied by delicious finger foods. You will thank yourself the next time you are selecting wine to bring to a friend’s dinner party or to pair with your next meal.
