The arrival of spring coincides with one of the most important holidays on the Christian calendar: Easter. As a predominantly Roman Catholic country, Italy celebrates the holiday with great excitement and many regional traditions from dramatic Easter processions in Southern Italy to the “Little Easter” (day after Easter) picnicking tradition in the countryside. Classic dishes include lots of lamb, as well as special dove shaped cake and of course the traditional large chocolate egg with surprise inside (in lieu of the Easter egg basket filled with mini eggs and peeps marshmallow candies). But at MaMa Florence Cooking School, we want to shake things up! Come join us for a 100% vegetarian cooking class, using fresh, local ingredients combined with some exotic ingredients and spices for a day where tradition meets innovation.
Your professional English-speaking chef will guide you through ingredient selection as well as address how to incorporate fusion cooking ingredients. You will learn to make things like a vegetarian pate, vibrant colored pates prepared with a base of vegetables, eggs, legumes and seasonings. You will experiment with aromatic herbs, ginger, saffron and anise. And why not incorporate local spring greens into a sushi style roll? Tuscan favorites like ricotta and asparagus will take center stage “fused” together in heavenly tasting new combinations. By the end of your cooking class, you will be inspired to try out your new dishes for family and friends at home on your next Easter or springtime celebration.
