MAMAYAMA | Sushi and Sashimi Cooking class by MOMOYAMA FLORENCE
VEGETARIAN EASTER | Vegetarian Easter Cooking Course
Easter is one of the most important Christian festivities, and in Italy it gains an increased status as being the most important holiday following the winter season. If Christians celebrate Easter as the Resurrection of Christ, it can be said that everyone celebrates Easter as ushering in the new Spring season.
Whether early or late in the year, whether in March or late April, it's the perfect moment for all of us to shed the grey and coldness of winter. Even though in Italy there's a saying "Christmas at home, Easter on your own," there's also a strong tradition of spending the holiday all together and for taking a mini field-trip on Easter Monday, which in Italy is an official bank holiday.
Although the traditional Easter menu includes the ever-present lamb, Colomba, and chocolate Easter eggs, the vegetarian alternatives are always more frequently sought-after and enjoyed!
The traditional Easter dish in Italy is without a doubt lamb prepared with assorted regional specialties. A religious symbol within Christendom, lamb here in Italy is traditionally served with an assortment of side dishes, ranging from roasted potatoes, peas, and artichokes depending on seasonal availability of these ingredients and personal preferences.
All Easter dishes are rich and plentiful dishes, beginning from the Savoury Easter Torte, all the way through the main course of lamb with assorted side dishes and the Colomba cake. Also ever-present, to the delight of Italian children throughout the country, are the beautifully-decorated chocolate Easter eggs!
For those in search of a lighter meal featuring the richness of the orchard and vegetables gardens, MaMa Florence provides a delicious, delightful alternative!
